First day of the Bluebell Railway 50th Anniversary Gala, which saw the return to service of 'Captain Baxter', an intensive train service including shuttles up to Imberhorne Lane, access to behind the scenes areas and visiting locomotives FR No. 20 and RH&DR No. 7 'Typhoon'.

Black 5 No. 44932 hauled the Cathedrals Express from London Waterloo to Bristol and back via Salisbury on Thursday 5th August 2010. We got off at Salisbury and took the opportunity to visit the cathedral there.

The weather on the Sunday of August Bank holiday weekend deteriorated, but yacht racing on the final day of the Dartmouth Royal Regatta still took place in Start Bay and 6024 King Edward I brought the Torbay Express into Kingswear from Bristol.

Route was: Victoria - Clapham Junction - Richmond - Staines - Woking - Basingstoke - Eastleigh - Botley (water) - Fareham - Havant - Liss - Guildford - Woking - Staines - Richmond - Clapham Junction - Victoria.

The Bluebell Railway put on a special gala to mark the 125th anniversary of the opening of the Lewes to East Grinstead railway, of which the Bluebell is the only surviving part. There were 11 engines in steam on the Saturday and despite of the problems with the Sheffield Park watering facilities there was still an intensive service running.

For the 150th Anniversary of the railways reaching Brighton an open day was held at Lovers Walk depot in the summer of 1991. There were several steam engines in attendance including my favourite 70000 Britannia, recently returned to the main line for the first time since the 1960's.

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the burning down of the Crystal Palace in south London, an aerial and fireworks display was held on the terraces where the building once was. The aerial display wasn't very exciting but the fireworks were excellent.

Holiday to Stoke Fleming in Devon. Visited Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway to see the last Torbay Express of the 2006 season, had a trip on the River Dart, went to Buckfast Abbey and Buckfastleigh Station (South Devon Railway), Dartmouth Castle and Coleton Fishacre National Trust property.

On Sunday July 10th 2005 a major event was held in central London to mark the 60th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The date chosen was roughly half way between VE and VJ Day's in order that only one event be held. On the Thursday before the event, London suffered the July 7th bombings, so it was a of great importance that this event went ahead to show that London was going about its business as usual. The pictures show events on The Mall and the flypast over Buckingham Palace that ended the days events.

75069 and 34027 'Taw Valley' hauled three special trains between London and Brighton on the 28th to 30th December 1993. We managed to see 75069 hauling these specials first at Selhurst station on 28th December and then at East Croydon station on the 30th December. Apologies for the poor quality photographs due to the lack of light and the quality of cameras at the time.
